Parque nacional Cabo Pulmo

Cabo Pulmo, on the east coast of Baja California Sur, protects one of the oldest coral reefs in the eastern Pacific and the most important living reef in the Gulf of California. Declared a national marine park in 1995 after local fishing families pushed for its protection, it became a celebrated conservation success as fish populations recovered dramatically, and it forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage site.
