La Paz (Baja California Sur)

La Paz, on the Gulf of California (also called the Sea of Cortés), is the capital of Baja California Sur, the state that occupies the southern half of the Baja California peninsula. Although the state’s most famous tourist hub is Los Cabos, the seat of government is La Paz.

Don’t confuse it with Mexicali, which is the capital of the neighboring state of Baja California, in the north of the peninsula.
