Palanqueta

A palanqueta is a crunchy bar of toasted peanuts bound together with caramelized piloncillo or sugar syrup. It is one of Mexico’s classic traditional candies, sold in markets and candy stalls, and is a specialty associated with Pachuca and the mining towns of Hidalgo.

Don’t confuse it with the alegría, another traditional bar-shaped sweet that is made with amaranth seeds instead of peanuts.
