A memela is a street snack made by pressing corn masa into an oval shape, cooking it on a comal, and topping it with salsa, cheese, or a stew. Its name comes from Nahuatl. It belongs to the large family of corn antojitos, along with sopes and tlacoyos, with which it is sometimes confused.
