Fonda (Latinoamérica)

A fonda is a small, usually family-run eatery serving traditional home-style Mexican food at low prices. Many fondas offer a “comida corrida”, a fixed-price set meal that typically includes soup, rice, a main dish, and a drink.

Fondas are found in markets and neighborhoods all over Mexico and are a beloved part of everyday food culture. Don’t confuse a fonda with a cantina, which is primarily a bar serving drinks.
