Dulce mexicano
Charamuscas are twisted candies made of hardened, caramelized piloncillo (unrefined cane sugar). In the city of Guanajuato they are often shaped like mummies, a nod to the famous Mummies of Guanajuato.
The state is also the home of cajeta, the goat’s-milk caramel made in Celaya — another sweet closely tied to Guanajuato.
