Annona muricata

Soursop (guanábana in Spanish) is a tropical fruit with a spiky green skin and soft, sweet-tart white pulp dotted with black seeds. It grows in Mexico’s warm coastal regions, in states such as Nayarit, Colima, Michoacán and Guerrero.

In Mexico it is a favorite flavor for aguas frescas, ice creams and smoothies. Don’t confuse it with the cherimoya (chirimoya), a smaller relative with smoother skin and a similar creamy pulp.
