When were the Olympic Games held in Mexico?

The 1968 Summer Olympics were held in Mexico City from October 12 to 27, 1968 — the first Olympic Games ever hosted in Latin America. Enriqueta Basilio made history there as the first woman to light the Olympic cauldron.

The Games took place just days after the Tlatelolco massacre of student protesters on October 2, 1968. Do not confuse the 1968 Olympics with the FIFA World Cups that Mexico hosted in 1970 and 1986.
