Rubén Olivares

Rubén “El Púas” Olivares, born in Mexico City in 1947, was a devastating puncher who won world titles at bantamweight and featherweight in the late 1960s and 1970s. He is widely considered one of the greatest Mexican boxers of all time.

Don’t confuse him with later idols like Julio César Chávez or Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez; Olivares belongs to an earlier golden era of Mexican boxing.
