Where are the Tarahumara from?

The Tarahumara, or Rarámuri, are an Indigenous people of the Sierra Madre Occidental whose heartland is the state of Chihuahua, in the region of the Copper Canyon (Barrancas del Cobre); smaller communities also reach into Sonora and Durango. They are famous for running enormous distances through the mountains, notably in their traditional ball race, the rarajípari.
