Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México

The motto of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) was proposed in 1921 by José Vasconcelos, then rector of the university, and reflects his post-revolutionary ideal of a united Ibero-American “cosmic race”. UNAM is the largest and most prestigious university in Mexico, and its University City campus is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Do not confuse it with the motto of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN): “La técnica al servicio de la patria”.
