Taxi

In Mexico, a sitio is an authorized taxi stand: a fixed base where licensed taxis wait for passengers, often with a phone number for dispatch. Taxis de sitio are traditionally considered safer and more reliable than cabs hailed on the street, and the word appears on signs at airports, bus stations and street corners.

The everyday Spanish word sitio simply means “place” or “site,” so this is a distinctly Mexican usage worth knowing.
