Historia del constitucionalismo mexicano

The Constitution of Apatzingán was drafted in 1814 by the insurgent congress convened by José María Morelos, in the middle of the War of Independence. Because royalist forces still controlled most of the country, it was never actually applied.

After independence was completed in 1821, the Federal Constitution of 1824 became the first constitution truly in force, creating a federal republic. Don’t mix these up with the later liberal Constitution of 1857 or the current Constitution of 1917.
