Constitución Política de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos

Article 49 of the 1917 Constitution divides the Supreme Power of the Federation into three branches: the Legislative, exercised by the Congress of the Union (Chamber of Deputies and Senate); the Executive, held by the President of the Republic; and the Judicial, headed by the Supreme Court of Justice.

This separation of powers exists so that no single person or body concentrates all public power.
