When did Tenochtitlan fall?

Tenochtitlan, the island capital of the Mexica (Aztec) empire, fell to Hernán Cortés and his Indigenous allies, chiefly the Tlaxcalans, on August 13, 1521, after a devastating siege. The last ruler, Cuauhtémoc, was captured that day, and the conquest opened the era of New Spain, with Mexico City built on the ruins.

Don’t confuse this date with the Noche Triste of June 30, 1520, when the Mexica temporarily expelled the Spaniards from the city.
