Sara García
Sara García (1895–1980), born in Orizaba, Veracruz, was known as ‘the grandmother of Mexican cinema’ for the strong-willed matriarchs and grandmothers she played in classics such as Los tres García alongside Pedro Infante. Her image became so iconic that it appeared for decades on Mexican chocolate packaging.
Don’t confuse her with the glamorous leading ladies of the era, such as María Félix or Dolores del Río, who played very different kinds of roles.
