Premio Ariel

The Ariel is Mexico’s most prestigious film award, presented since 1947 by the Mexican Academy of Film Arts and Sciences (AMACC) — the Mexican equivalent of the Oscar. Classics such as Luis Buñuel’s Los olvidados and, more recently, Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma have won it.

Don’t confuse it with the Diosa de Plata, a separate award given by Mexican film journalists, or with the Lunas del Auditorio, which honor live performances.
