Gabriel Veyre

The cinematograph reached Mexico in 1896, just months after its Paris debut, brought by Gabriel Veyre and Claude Ferdinand Bon Bernard, envoys of the Lumière brothers. Their first ‘views’ were brief scenes of real life, the most famous showing President Porfirio Díaz on horseback in Chapultepec. Don’t confuse it with Santa (1932), Mexico’s first sound film.
