Anthony Quinn

Anthony Quinn (1915–2001) was born in Chihuahua, Mexico, during the Revolution and moved to the United States as a child. He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor twice: for Viva Zapata! (1952), playing the brother of Emiliano Zapata, and for Lust for Life (1956), playing the painter Paul Gauguin.

He was the first Mexican-born actor to win an Oscar. Don’t confuse his acting awards with the directing Oscars later won by Alfonso Cuarón and Alejandro González Iñárritu.
