Zacatecas (Zacatecas)

The city of Zacatecas, capital of the state of the same name, grew rich on silver mining in colonial times, and its pink-stone historic center, overlooked by the Cerro de la Bufa, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In 1914 it was the scene of the Toma de Zacatecas, in which Pancho Villa’s División del Norte won one of the decisive battles of the Mexican Revolution.
