When did the name change from the Federal District (DF) to Mexico City (CDMX)?

On January 29, 2016, a constitutional reform was published that transformed the Distrito Federal into Ciudad de México (CDMX). The change made the capital a federal entity with greater autonomy — including its own constitution and local congress — while it remains the seat of the federal government.

Don’t confuse this date with February 5, 2017, when Mexico City’s own local constitution was promulgated.
