San Francisco de Campeche

The capital of Campeche is the city of the same name, officially San Francisco de Campeche. It is a walled colonial port on the Gulf of Mexico, fortified in the 17th century against pirate attacks, and its historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Don’t confuse it with Ciudad del Carmen, the state’s oil-industry hub, which is not the capital.
