Pachuca de Soto

Pachuca, officially Pachuca de Soto, is the capital of Hidalgo, nicknamed “La Bella Airosa” for its constant winds. It grew as a silver-mining city, and miners brought from Cornwall, England, left two lasting legacies: the “paste” (a local version of the Cornish pasty) and an early role in bringing football to Mexico — Club Pachuca is one of the country’s oldest teams.

Its landmark is the Reloj Monumental, a monumental clock tower inaugurated in 1910 for the centennial of independence.
