Mexicali

Baja California is the state that occupies the northern half of the Baja California peninsula, bordering the United States. Its capital is Mexicali, a hot border city facing Calexico, California, and an important agricultural and industrial center.

Be careful with two classic confusions: Tijuana is the state’s largest and most famous city, but it is not the capital, and La Paz is the capital of the other peninsular state, Baja California Sur.
