Culiacán

Sinaloa is a state on Mexico’s northern Pacific coast, known as one of the country’s great agricultural producers and as the home of banda music. Its capital is Culiacán, a city founded by the Spanish in 1531 at the meeting point of the Tamazula and Humaya rivers.

Do not confuse the capital with Mazatlán, Sinaloa’s famous beach resort and port: Mazatlán is the state’s best-known tourist city, but Culiacán is the seat of government.
