Luis Barragán

Luis Barragán (1902–1988), born in Guadalajara, is Mexico’s most celebrated architect, known for an ‘emotional architecture’ of brightly colored walls, light, and water; his house and studio in Mexico City is a UNESCO World Heritage site. In 1980 he received the Pritzker Prize, architecture’s highest honor, becoming its second laureate ever and the only Mexican to win it.
