La familia Burrón

Gabriel Vargas (1915-2010) was one of Mexico’s greatest cartoonists. His comic strip La Familia Burrón, published for some six decades starting in the late 1940s, followed barber Regino Burrón, his irrepressible wife Borola and their working-class Mexico City neighborhood, becoming a beloved chronicle of popular urban life.

Don’t confuse him with Yolanda Vargas Dulché, the unrelated comics writer who created Memín Pinguín.
