Tlatelolco 1968 in literature
The massacre of students on October 2, 1968, in the Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, Mexico City, left a deep mark on Mexican literature.
The best-known work is La noche de Tlatelolco (Massacre in Mexico, 1971) by Elena Poniatowska, a chronicle built from the testimony of witnesses and survivors. José Emilio Pacheco (1939–2014), author of Las batallas en el desierto, also evoked the massacre in Las voces de Tlatelolco. Both won the Cervantes Prize.
