Cantinflas

Cantinflas was the stage name of Mario Fortino Alfonso Moreno Reyes (1911–1993), a comedian from Mexico City and a Golden Age star. His character, the street-wise “peladito”, represented working-class Mexicans on screen, in films such as Ahí está el detalle (1940).

His tangled way of talking a lot while saying nothing gave rise to the verb “cantinflear”, recognized by the Royal Spanish Academy.
