Chamber of Deputies
The Chamber of Deputies is the lower chamber of Congress. It represents the population and is especially important for the federal budget and ordinary lawmaking.
Deputies serve three-year terms. For citizenship learners, remember that Deputies are closer to population representation, while Senators represent states in the federal system.
Federal deputies represent the electoral districts. The Chamber of Deputies is made up of 500 deputies. Mexico is divided into 300 single-member federal electoral districts.
